With a little help from some of our wonderful staff and volunteers, we’ll be showing you how to create the latest look using items from our very own Compton Hospice shops!  wordsley and k ford vol 2

Fashion Friday Trend 4: Swinging Sixties

The 60’s was a decade that broke the fashion mould to mirror the huge social changes of the time. The quirky and vibrant clothes that changed the face of fashion as we know it are back on the catwalks with a vengeance. From miniskirts to bell-bottom jeans and paisley to tie-dye, many much-loved styles are rooted firmly in the original work of sixties designers.

Alexa Chung, Kate Moss and Sophie Ellis Bexter are devoted fans of swinging sixties fashion trends.

How to wear the swinging sixties look:

  • A classic shift dress with a peter pan collar is one of the easiest ways to show your appreciation for sixties fashion.
  • Keep shoes and accessories modern to bring your look into the 21st century. Bold colours – reds, yellows and orange’s are perfect for the summer.
  • Dress like a mod in bold prints, bright colour and a short A-line hem. If you’d prefer go casual with drainpipe jeans or capris pants a la Audrey Hepburn.
  • Complete your look with a long, full eyelashes and feline flick to your eyeliner whilst keeping lips nude and matte.

You can pick up a range of retro items in your local Compton Hospice store. This week our models are Rosie (volunteer in our Wordsley Green and Kingswinford Shop) pictured above, and Bev (volunteer in our ‘Nearly New’ Wolverhampton shop) who is pictured below.
