Fashion Blog Friday: Marvelous Monochrome

Our ‘Fashion Blog Friday’ series will show you how you can achieve the latest catwalk inspired looks without having to pay those costly designer prices.

With a little help from some of our wonderful staff and volunteers, we’ll be showing you how to create the latest look using items from our very own Compton Hospice shops! Outfit 1

Fashion Friday Trend 3: Monochrome

Simple, chic and sophisticated, monochrome is a trend that just keeps coming back year after year. The classic combination of black and white is as timeless as it is flattering. Celebrities spotted in monochrome include Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney, Khloe Kardashian and Fearne Cotton.

How to wear monochrome

  • Monochrome is wonderfully versatile. If colour-blocking feels like too much, opt for a black and white floral print or go for classic stripes which scream Parisian chic.
  • Stick to simple, tailored shapes and make sure your white are dazzlingly white.
  • To take your black and white look straight from the office to an evening event, jazz it up with a bright lipstick to contrast with the simplicity of the outfit.
  • Go bold by adding a splash of red or create an entirely neutral palette with grey or tan accessories.

You can pick up a range of black and white clothing and accessory items in your local Compton Hospice store. Our model this week is Caroline Painter, manager of our Kingswinford store who wears:
